Famous CloudPets teddy bears were hacked, placing about thousands of private information of families at risk. The hackers hold millions of personal data and voice recordings to ransom as they exposed the information online for a couple of days.

CloudPets, which are teddy bears that hold the owner's voice recordings were hacked wherein the private information of the children and their parents were placed online for a few days. Daily Mail revealed that the massive leak exposed more than 800,000 email addresses along with the passwords. Up to this day, the company, Spiral Toys, which owned CloudPets have not yet informed the victims of the data breach.

"It's an alarming leak because not only does it expose very personal information from children, but the company has also elected not to notify impacted families," online security expert, Troy Hunt told Daily Mail. "The primary risk is the invasion of privacy it poses to families. Whilst there is still the potential for hackers to abuse the usernames and passwords stolen, it's strangers listening to your children which worry parents the most."

Parents should be keen when it comes to displaying or putting their child's information, details and even their photos online as it can potentially place them at risk. Sexual predators would usually lurk online as some would feed on an innocent child's photo.

NPR highlighted that parents should think twice when it comes to posting their child's photos, videos and personal details on social media. It is important for parents to ask their kids if they would be able to do so first. The majority of the parents would post their child's personal life on social media, without even asking, as some feel uncomfortable having their information posted, most especially the big kids and pre-teens.
