Woman's Joints Dislocate 60 Times A Day Suffering From Rare Condition

Danielel Shield, 22, suffers from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which is an inherited condition that leaves her joints loose and susceptible to stick out at odd angles. She experiences 60 breaks or dislocations a day.

Due to her condition she has already given up sport. She relies on a wheelchair to be mobile and has avoided extreme temperatures.

Her hips dislocates every time she gets out of bed. Her shoulder would pop out as she brushes her hair and her jaw disconnects every time she brushes her teeth.

Daily Mail reported that Danielle and her fiancé, Chris Harris, 22, got accustomed to her condition that popping her joints back into place became second nature. She said she wanted to share the videos to reveal the reality of living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

Danielle regularly re-inserts her joints back into place in public and has to endure the embarrassment of people staring at her. She has released videos of her clicking her thumb, knee and shoulder to help remove the stigma.

"My day is punctuated with dislocations, even playing on a games console or using cutlery can push my fingers out of joint," said Danielle. She got used to seeing her body in strange angles and Chris eventually learned not to get freaked out every time it happens.

Danielle played football as a child and she thought she was just always susceptible to breaks, bumps and bruises. When she was 13, she started to get abdominal migraines. When she turned 16 she started going for tests as her symptoms got worse according to Northhamptonshire Telegraph.

She was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome when she was 19. Doctors told her that her body would dislocate numerous times in a day and if she decided to have children in the future she would need a C-section to avoid shattering her pelvis.

Danielle had three operations in the next two years and regularly had her bones encased in splints and metal and fabric braces to help strengthen them. She gave up sport, which she loves, and joined a support group to cope with her life change.
