‘Limitless’ Season 2: CBS Cancels Show Permanently Despite Heavy Fan Demand; Possibility Of Return
"Limitless" Season 2 has been officially cancelled quite a long time ago. Even then, fans kept on hoping that the CBS show will return on television. The producer of the show recently hinted at a possible story line for the sequel and many believe that it may be enough for any network to pick it up for another season.
Craig Sweeny Reveals Possible Story for "Limitless" Season 2
Craig Sweeny, the executive producer of the show recently shared the possible storyline for the series with NZT at the crux. According to Sweeny, the next season will not focus on Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), reports Celebeat. He said that they will find a way so that Brian takes up working on NZT with Boyle (Hill Harper) and Rebecca (Jennifer Carpenter).
The "Limitless" Season 2 story will continue to tackle problems related to NZT, a controversial drug. One of the reasons Netflix and Amazon avoided airing this show is because it focuses on NZT and it can reportedly cause controversy. Despite all this background, the viewers of the show want "Limitless" Season 2 to come back.
"Limitless Season 2": Outlets Avoiding Sequel?
Usually, it happens that if there is tremendous fan demand, the series manages to get an extension of at least one season. But this time around, it may not be possible because according to Cinema Blend, the series debuted with top ratings and no one thought that there could be reason to worry about an extension for another season.
Unfortunately, ratings for the series dropped tremendously and allegedly it became impossible for CBS to continue airing "Limitless" Season 2. Even though fans are pressing for its return, the show needs an outlet or a network to stream. However, now that both Amazon and Netflix have decided to avoid its streaming, the chances of the second season airing on TV looks almost impossible.
Fans are reportedly planning to start an online petition for the sequel. If this attracts any network, there is a possibility that viewers can get to see "Limitless" Season 2 on television. However, as of now, the status of the show stands is still "canceled permanently."
