'The Winds of Winter' Latest News: There Could Be Major Power Tussles in King's Landing
There are innumerable fans of writer George R.R. Martin's series titled "A Song of Ice and Fire." They have been patiently waiting for its next installment titled " The Winds of Winter " to get released. Meanwhile, one of the theories going around at present is that there could be a change in the power equation in the King's Landing.
"A Dance with Dragons'" deaths could have its rippling effect in "The Winds of Winter." Some samples of the yet to be released book are teasing what is in store for its readers.
Incidentally, a fan has put together some expected changes, which can have a direct impact on the power equations in the King's Landing. Some intriguing ideas have been shared by a user on Reddit about how the plot for Martin's next book can possibly shape up.
"The Winds of Winter": Theory Involving King's Landing and the Lannisters' Fate
According to the user, the new plot could revolve around the destiny of the Lannisters and about the King's Landing. Some fans are even speculating about a probable scenario in case Harys Swyft is unable to return to the King's Landing.
The last installment showcased the killing of Grane Maester Pycelle and Kevan Lannisters. So, as of now, Swyft is the sole Lannister loyalist who is alive. However, the said thread on Reddit brings up theories on his possible killing due to his own foolishness in Braavos.
He may not make it alive to King's Landing. In fact, when Martin released a recent snippet of his work, he admitted that Swyft would stay in Braavos for some time and chances are that he may not return.
"The Winds of Winter" Could Showcase Power Struggle
Speculations are prevalent that the new story line will have a tussle of power between the Tyrells and the Lannisters to acquire the throne. The thread on the Reddit further speculates that a Tyrells will take over the Small Council. There are two empty seats in the council at present; the Master of Coin and the Grand Maester.
It is possible that in the beginning, it will be Mace Tyrell who could be having an upper hand since Kevan will not be in the scene. It is also being speculated that the two empty seats will be occupied by Garth and Gormon Tyrell.
Christian Today noted that as far as the author is concerned, he is a bit tight-lipped about the upcoming storyline of "The Winds of Winter," ever since he released a spoiler chapter in 2016. However, in the month of Jan. this year, he did share that his latest book is yet to be completed, although it could still be released in this year.
