The day has finally come when Bungie makes that announcement and unveils the release date of the next content update for "Destiny." The online-only first-person shooter video game was first released in 2014 to consoles and in February last year, the studio confirmed that a full sequel will arrive this year. While waiting for the aforementioned sequel, however, fans and gamers are invited to check out the next content update, which release date will be announced today.

According to VG247, Bungie will make an announcement and unveil release date of next content update today. "Destiny" fans are encouraged to keep an eye out for the Bungie Weekly update that occurs every 9 a.m. PT on Fridays. The report also indicated that the studio plans to shed more light on the big spring update for "Destiny."

Bungie promises that "the countdown is about to begin" for the next big update for "Destiny." The last time the studio released a large-scale update was back in September last year, when "Rise of Iron" arrived. As for those who are eagerly waiting for more details about "Destiny 2," it seems that you'll have to wait until the spring update has been announced and/or released.

The studio may opt to shed more light on the sequel during this year's E3 or other gaming events. According to GameSpot, the next content update for "Destiny," which will be announced today, will feature "some fresh challenges for you to tackle and the sandbox changes," which were already showcased last week.

In other "Destiny" news, there will be a new patch for the game, which will arrive next week. While it won't implement changes on the game, it will improve the studio's data-gathering capabilities.
