When actor Thomas Gibson was ousted from the series last year, the twitter hashtag #NoHotchNoWatch started trending in a big way. Get to know if this hashtag can be a big threat to the renewal of "Criminal Minds" Season 13.

At present, the viewership rating for "Criminal Minds" Season 12 is not as impressive as it was in the past. Last Feb., the series only has 6.7 million viewers - which were at its all-time low.

Possibilities of "Criminal Minds" Season 13 Renewal

According to a report published in TV Series Finale, the viewership rating of a show determines its continuation to a large extent. If that is the case, then the survival of this crime series could definitely come under the scanner.

There were only 8.92 million viewers who watched "Criminal Minds" Season 12's premiere episode. The figure was around a million less than the viewership numbers of the premiere of the previous season. CarterMatt recently mentioned that its latest episode titled "Alpha Male" landed up with a meager rating of 1.2 in the age group of 18-49.

The decline in ratings could be due to Shemar Moore's exit. But again, the exit of Thomas Gibson continues to be a major subject of discussion among the show's viewers.

Why the Twitter Hashtag Could Be A Threat For "Criminal Minds"

The current season saw Gibson leaving the show after appearing in just two episodes. The actor was seen in the role of Aaron Hotchner, since the show premiered in Sept. 2005.

His exit in Aug. last year happened after he had a dispute with one of the writers of the show. Apparently, it was not the first time Thomas Gibson had issues on set. But the producers decided to show him the doors after his latest incident.

Thereafter, his ouster from "Criminal Minds" triggered the creation of the hashtag #NoHotchNoWatch. The hashtag seems to have quite a strong following on social media. Some users even claimed that the drop in the rating is due to the exit of Gibson.
