Steven Spielberg has a new movie and it includes superstars Mery Streep and Tom Hanks in its cast. Know more details about it, here.

The movie "The Post" is a fact-based drama revolving around the Pentagon Papers, a classified Department of Defense study documents, which had in full details, the scope of the U.S. government dealings during the Vietnam War, according to Mashable.

Hanks and Streep's Roles In "The Post"

Steven Spielberg will direct the new movie with script written by Liz Hannah and will focus essentially on the publishing of the study done by the The Washington Post. Hanks will play the role of editor Ben Bradlee, while Streep will portray Katherine Graham, publisher and the person who has the core knowledge of the said project.

While Steven Spielberg's new movie project has been set, there is still no exact date as to when the filming will start. The director's director is still busy wrapping up post-production for his upcoming sci-fi movie "Ready Player One," as well as other projects, including "Indiana Jones 5" and "The Kidnapping of Edgardo Morata".

But will Steven Spielberg's new movie save him from the misfire that was his previous project? Though not likely, the director suffered a commercial failure with last year's "The BFG" - a Roald Dahl adaptation.

But the answer to the question is - probably so. With the mentioned films on-the-way and under his belt, the superstar casting of "The Post" can bring back his slightly dented success streak as a renowned director.

Other Projects For Tom Hanks And Meryl Streep

Hanks, although left out of the Oscar nominations this year, has been critically praised for his performance for his role in "Sully." He will be seen again in the coming "The Circle," a cyber thriller. On the other hand, Oscar-favorite Streep, according to The Guardian, just got her 20th nod for "Florence Foster Jenkins" and is busy filming for Disney's "Mary Poppins" sequel.

"The Post," Steven Spielberg's new movie will be financed by Fox and his own Amblin Entertainment. The movie will be produced by Spielberg, Amy Pascal, and Kristie Macosko.
