"Criminal Minds" Season 13 may not be possible, as the show is currently facing scarcity of viewership. Reports indicated that the episodes which aired last month and at the start of Mar. received an all-time series low ratings.

The series boasted of around 13 million viewership per episode until last season. But with the exit of Thomas Gibson, it has dropped to just 6.7 million, reportedly diminishing the possibility of an extension for the series.

New Characters And Departure Of Big Names Affecting Ratings

It is not easy for any show to continue getting high ratings all the time. Hence, there is a possibility that eventually "Criminal Minds" Season 12 may pick up. But the factors that are currently causing the drop in viewership need to be studied first.

According to MoviePilot, there are several reasons causing the decline in the ratings, including the age of the show, the loss of Shemar Moore, and also the introduction of new characters. Apart from Shemar Moore, who left the show for personal reasons, the exit of Thomas Gibson may have also affected the ratings making it difficult for the showrunners to get an extension for "Criminal Minds" Season 13. Diehard fans of Aaron Hotchner aka Gibson believe that the series lost its charm after the lead actor was fired.

At this particular stage, no one can say confidently that the exit of Gibson is causing a drop in the ratings. However, several evidences point out that fans can still be right and "Criminal Minds" Season 13 may not be possible.

'Criminal Minds' Season 13 May Become Possible With Gibson's Return?

Thomas Gibson has been one of the pillar actors of the series. Along with Shemar Moore, they made "Criminal Minds" a high-powered series. Now that the two biggies are out, it seems that the show has lost its charm, making it difficult for the showrunner to get an extension for "Criminal Minds" Season 13.

When the producers decided to remove Gibson from the show, his fans trended #NoHotchNoWatch on social media, reports Gosh TV.  Many fans decided to turn their backs on the show after Gibson was removed. So, if the showrunners do want "Criminal Minds" Season 13 to come on air, they need to do something to pacify these fans. Will they call Thomas Gibson back?
