The first new movie “Beauty and the Beast” to be released by Walt Disney for the year 2017 is all set to mark a box office blockbuster. The movie is yet to open next week but Fandango official (a corporation that sells movie tickets via phone or Internet) recently gave a hint that the upcoming movie has already crossed the pre-sales of super hit movies “Finding Dory” and “Captain America: Civil War.”

“Beauty and the Beast” Creates New Milestone

According to Yahoo!, two films emerged as Disney’s top earners in terms of opening the previous summer -  “Captain America: Civil War” and “Finding Dory” debuted to $179 million and $135 million, respectively. The website reported that the pre-sales of “Beauty and the Beast” has surpassed the aforementioned records.

A similar gigantic opening for “Beauty and the Beast” will undoubtedly put Disney on the way to another enormous year in the cinema world. Before Fandango’s touting of its ticket pre-deals, different assessments had speculated that the movie’s opening first two days would cross $120 million, Fortune reported.

The upcoming “Beauty and the Beast” stars 2015’s “Criminal Activities” actor, Dan Stevens and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” actress, Emma Watson. The Bill Condon-directed 3D musical romantic dark fantasy movie is a live-action remake of Disney’s 1991 animated film of the same name that won Academy Awards.

“Beauty and the Beast” Becomes Disney’s First Film For Openly Gay Character

The website also reported that “Beauty and the Beast” is already encircled with controversy for featuring a gay character name LeFou, portrayed by “The Angry Birds Movie’s” voice actor, Josh Gad. This is said to be the first openly homosexual character in a Disney movie.

“Beauty and the Beast” is slated to hit the big screen in the U.S. on Mar. 17, 2017.
