Who Is Kevin Johnson?
Kevin Johnson is a former star player of the Phoenix Suns in the NBA. He played for the team for twelve years.(1988-2000). He retired from basketball in 2001 and after seven years of being a private citizen, he decided to enter politics and became the mayor of Sacramento, CA.
Kevin Johnson Political Career
He had a lot of projects for the betterment of his municipality. One of them is Volunteer Sacramento.This project was started alongside Cities of Service, a bipartisan alliance of mayors organized in 2009 to support public service.
As one of the establishing municipalities, Sacramento logged 1.7 million hours of service and created $22 million in financial impact in 2009. In 2012, he was re-elected as the mayor of Sacramento. He won against three other candidates and his term ended in Dec. 2016.
Johnson Will Be Back In Sports Industry?
Former Sacramento mayor and NBA player Kevin Johnson is entering the sports company, Independent Sports and Entertainment (ISE) - after Dan Fegan has been removed. In a report posted by NBA, ISE announced that Kevin Johnson will work as vice chairman, directing the organization's corporate concept and policy, and assisting clients in contract consultations and career progress.
Fegan was dismissed as chairman of ISE Basketball and is being succeeded on an interval basis by ISE chief marketing administrator Chris Grancio. ISE stated that the company continues to be strongly dedicated to basketball.
In an added report posted by the Sacramento Bee, Johnson is following the Ron Burkle-backed Independent Sports & Entertainment. Johnson and Burkle are longtime colleagues and were spotted contemporaneously at the opening of the Golden 1 Center a few months ago.
Johnson enlisted Burkle to acquire the Kings six years ago when the Maloof family was endeavoring to transfer the team to Anaheim, but Burkle was fiercely resisted by the Maloofs.
