The former Disney star' mother, Mandy met with The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye. But according to a source from Life & Style magazine, she was not too keen on Selena Gomez and The Weeknd dating status.

"Mandy has met Abel and thinks he is respectful in person, but she doesn't think he's a good influence on Selena," the insider said. Mandy noted that the "Starboy" singer has drug-related lyrics in his songs, which might be a bad influence on Selena Gomez.

The 40-year-old mother thinks Selena Gomez and The Weeknd dating should stop because the singer and actress need to be with "healthy people." "A lot of Selena's friends and family fear that she'll go down the wrong path again," the insider added. "They feel she needs to be surrounded by healthy people."

It can be recalled that Selena Gomez underwent a 90-day rehabilitation, which was related to her lupus condition. Selena Gomez and The Weeknd dating reports started to spread early this year, following the "Starboy" singer's break-up with Victoria's Secret angel and model, Bella Hadid. The "Me & My Girls" singer, at the same time came from a painful break-up with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.

Meanwhile, Selena Gomez hinted that she is back in the music scene, when she posted Instagram snap shots while in a recording studio, Daily Mail said in a report. The actress and singer teased her 112 million Instagram fans about an upcoming project with songwriters Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter.

Gomez previously worked with the two for her songs "Good For You" and "Hands to Myself," under her "Revival" album. Early this year, Selena Gomez also dropped her hit collaboration song "Ain't It Me" with DJ Kygo.
