Emma Watson Taking Hackers To Court Over Leaked Photo Scandal
In the latest development in the leaked photo scandal, Emma Watson has confirmed through a representative that the photos leaked online were authentic and stolen from the actress.
The photos were leaked last Wednesday and Emma Watson's publicist has told USA Today that those photos were from a costume fitting that Emma Watson did several years ago with an unnamed stylist. They also reiterated that there were no nude photographs and the video with a naked woman was not Emma Watson.
The photo scandal comes after the controversial pictures she had with Vanity Fair appeared on social media. The magazine photo shoot included a snap where some parts of her boobs were exposed. According to the Independent, this flared up in social media as critics accused Emma Watson of abandoning her feminist ideas by doing the shoot.
This issue comes at a time when her newest movie with Disney, "Beauty and the Beast" comes out in theaters.CNN also reports that a similar incident occurred in 2015 as Emma Watson was threatened with a leak of compromising photos after she had delivered a speech on gender equality. Some camps now believe that the leak was connected to the feminism issue in the Vanity Fair photos.
Emma Watson is not the only celebrity battling privacy breach. There is also Amanda Seyfried whose personal photos, showing Seyfried and her boyfriend in compromising situations, also leaked online. Then there is Mischa Barton who had a leaked sex tape after a spurned ex-boyfriend may have spread the video.
Emma Watson now continues to be one of the UN's Women Goodwill Ambassador. She is joined by Academy Award winners Nicole Kidman and Anne Hathaway and other prominent personalities in highlighting key issues and draw attention to the activities of the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.
