Conor McGregor Vows To Conquer Boxing [VIDEO]
Conor McGregor has given his strongest statement yet that his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. is really going to happen. Conor McGregor shouted to the media gathered at a boxing event in Madison Square Garden that an agreement to the mega fight is getting close.
Conor McGregor was at the New York venue to watch the debut of Olympic boxer Michael Conlan in the professional ranks. Conor McGregor has plans of a long-time boxing career, the New York Post reported. He had repeatedly shouted at the media in the event that he will take over boxing.
While Michael Conlan was successful in his debut, all the attention shifted to Conor McGregor, who led his fellow Irishman into the ring. He had claimed that he will shake up the boxing world once he steps into the ring, SB Nation revealed. Conor McGregor once boxed early in his fighting career as an amateur.
Conor McGregor is considered an underdog in the highly anticipated fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. He is however the first UFC fighter to own two division belts after defeated Eddie Alvarez in UFC 205 and he claims he will knock out Floyd Mayweather if ever they are to fight.
Conor McGregor's recent statement has all but confirmed the fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. after more than a year of mudslinging and calling out in all media platforms. It was Mayweather who first made the big move after coming out of retirement and said he un-retired to make the fight possible. Dana White, owner of the UFC, also indicated that he and the UFC are willing to stand aside to let the fight happen.
Even legendary boxing promoter, Bob Arum, is trying to cash in on the possibility of McGregor's shift to boxing. After downplaying the dream match-up as a fraud, he has stated he is willing to let McGregor choose from the fighters under him and he'll do it "winner-take-all".
