'Into the Badlands' Season 2 News & Update: Co-creator Alfred Gough, Cast Talk About Changes In AMC Show's New Season
Almost two years ago, AMC premiered the Alfred Gough and Miles Millar-created series, "Into the Badlands." The show starred Daniel Wu as the Badlands' Sunny, a skilled protector of the Baron, Quinn. The show was met with mixed reviews but received a renewal order from the network.
Yesterday, "Into the Badlands" Season 2 finally premiered, and it is the beginning of a 10-episode run. Recently, co-creator Alfred Gough and the cast talked about changes in its new season. Here's what they had to say about it.
Changes Abound In "Into the Badlands" Season 2
Co-creator Alfred Gough shared that because the first season of the show was only six episodes long, they were able to strike a balance between telling a whole story without limiting it. He told Comicbook that they needed a story that could move forward when it received a sophomore season order.
Now, "Into the Badlands" Season 2 will feature some changes, and as per Gough, the changes in the show's new season begins with its location. The story was previously told in New Orleans, but now the show has moved to Ireland.
Secondly, "Into the Badlands" Season 2 will also delve deeper into the lives of the Barons. Co-creator Alfred Gough added that viewers will get to see "how the politics and the bigger political machinations for the world work" in this season. In addition, viewers will get to see Sunny somewhere else in his life. In fact, viewers will get to see him journeying to make it back to the Badlands after getting imprisoned, just like MK.
Season 2 Will Be A "Journey"
Daniel Wu told Collider that in contrast to the show's first season, "Into the Badlands" Season 2 is more of a "journey" type of story. He said that the changes in the show's new season will feature the characters spread out and with different storylines to reach the season's finale. This season, viewers will get to see Sunny go through a lot of adversity to get his family back together.
