'Bates Motel' Rihanna Episode: See Singer As Iconic Marion Crane
The "Bates Motel" Rihanna episode just premiere last Monday (Mar. 20), as the series creators shed light on why the singer was casted as the iconic Marion Crane.
Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin, executive producers and creators of the hit television series on A&E, said that Rihanna portraying the role of Marion Crane came through Vanity Fair.
Rihanna was interviewed by the fashion magazine where she revealed that "Bates Motel" is her favorite, and Carlton Cuse read it. He suddenly had an idea of a possible "Bates Motel" Rihanna episode, where she can portray the iconic role they have been eyeing to introduce.

"We had been talking about introducing Marion Crane and the challenge was doing it in a way that wouldn't be a pale imitation of Janet Leigh from the original," Cuse told TV Line in an interview.
He also stated when they doubted if Rihanna will agree to their pitch to where the singer, who was doing her "ANTI" tour back then, nodded. She came to Vancouver to shoot a couple of episodes for "Bates Motel."
Ehrin described the "Bates Motel" Rihanna episode filming was a solution to their problem. The creator added the "This Is What You Came For" singer had a charismatic personality, which she paired with coolness and enthusiasm to the project, IGN said in a report.

The first "Bates Motel" Rihanna episode entitled "Dreams Die First," Psycho will collide with Bates Motel in "fascinating ways."
When asked if fans' anticipation about the episode might compromise their storyline, the producers said, "I think the only way you can make a show is to trust your own gut instinct."
Cuse said he and Kerry spent time in making the storyline and it was approved by Rihanna as well.
