‘Beauty And The Beast’ Outshined By ‘Boss Baby’ In Box Office; Here's The Details

Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" was outshined by new comer, animated comedy "Boss Baby," amidst its domination for three weeks.

The latest movie of DreamWorks Animation grabbed the top spot against "Beauty and the Beast," as it recorded $49 million. This was garhered from over 3, 773 locations, Channel News Asia said.

"Beauty And The Beast" Movie Replaced On Top Spot

The Emma Watson-led Disney movie landed on the second spot for the box office. This is its first time ever since it was released, as it is about to surpass the $900M worldwide.

All in all, the movie has recorded $876.3M earning, even before it hit the Japanese audience on Apr. 21. "Boss Baby" was predicted to earn from its debut a whopping $30 million from its $100 million capital for production.

For Fox head Chris Aronson, the "Boss Baby" movie was expected to have a "decent opening." "We didn't expect to be number one," he said. Meanwhile, Lionsgate's "Power Rangers" seemed to be a "one-weekend-wonder" in the North American audience, a Forbes report noted.

"Beauty And The Beast" Now In Manga

In the report, the film only earned $14.5 million for its second week, and is notably down from its earnings last week of $40.3 million. Following "Beauty and the Beast" is DreamWorks and Paramount's "Ghost in the Shell" at No. 2.

Led by Scarlett Johansson, the movie recorded $40.1M over the weekend and has been leading in South East Asia. China and Japan have yet to release the movie.

In other "Beauty and the Beast" news, Entertainment Weekly said that Disney teamed up with Tokyopop to publish a two-volume manga, which will adapt the story. It will be written by Mallory Reeves.

According to the report, the two volumes will give the point of view of Belle and the Beast. The two volumes will be out by Apr. 26.
