'13 Reasons Why' Spoilers: Hannah Baker Dies, Plus More Updates [VIDEOS]

"13 Reasons Why" is an upcoming mystery drama series, which will premiere on Mar. 31, 2017. The show will star Dylan Minnette and Katherine Longford. Read on for more details about "13 Reasons Why."

Selena Gomez marks her first venture as an executive producer on the small screen. Universal previously picked her as the lead star in 2011. It was after the studio acquired the film rights for it.

In 2015, Netflix got the project and included her as one of the EPs. Brian Yorkey wrote the series with Tom McCarthy as the director. Joining McCarthy and Gomez, the other producers are Joy Gorman, Michael Sugar, Steve Golin, Mandy Teefey, and Kristel Laiblinthe.

"13 Reasons Why" Plot

Based on the hit young adult novel from Jay Asher, "13 Reasons Why," will take place after Hannah Baker's suicide incident. The official synopsis from Spoiler TV revealed that 13 people received a box of mysterious tapes from her. The series will focus on how the people around her live their lives after receiving the package.

They will all learn the reasons why she committed to ending her life. However, there is a twist. For those who had the chance to get them, they must pass them to the other people included in the list.

"13 Reasons Why" Trailers, Sneak Peeks

Netflix has released several teasers for the original script series. The streaming service also uploads a snippet from the first tape, which continues Hannah's monologue.

Aside from Hannah, another character also appeared in most of the scenes. Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette), who had a huge crush on her, also receive the tapes. He was only one of her close friends in school.

Based on the clips, Clay felt horrified that he might have done something to her before she died. He will then start his own investigation which led him to meet the other 12 individuals.

"13 Reasons Why" Cast Update

Minnette previously starred in the horror flick, "Don't Breathe." His other acting credits include "Scandal" and "Grey's Anatomy."

According to Deadline, Longford will make her Hollywood debut as Hannah Baker. She planned on enrolling at a drama school before auditioning for roles in the US. The Australian actress tried her luck for "Will," but she did not get the part.

"Bad Judge" actress Kate Walsh and "Titanic" cast member will play as Hannah's parents. The other cast members are Brandon Flynn, Christian Navarro, Sosie Bacon and Alisha Boe.
