'Narcos' News: Wiz Khalifa Upsets Colombians After Visiting Drug Lord Pablo Escobar's Grave
Hitmaker and rapper, Wiz Khalifa recently upset the Mayor of Medellin after he visited Colombia. Apparently, the former went to the grave of late drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar, which disappointed the victims of Escobar.
According to a recent report from Hindustan Times, Wiz Khalifa made a lot of people from Colombia upset, including the family of Pablo Escobar's victims and the Mayor of Medellin, Federico Gutierrez. Gutierrez told Blu Radio listeners that what the "Wild, Young and Free" singer should have not visited Escobar's grave.
Wiz Khalifa Upsets Colombian People After Visiting Pablo Escobar
Gutierrez stated that Wiz Khalifa's decision to visit Pablo Escobar's grave is not an action they expected, since the drug kingpin killed thousands of people in the past. The Mayor even compared Escobar with Adolf Hitler, who killed many people when he was reigning in Germany.
“Instead of bringing flowers to Pablo Escobar’s tomb, this guy should have brought flowers to the graves of all the victims killed by drug trafficking, like any normal person would have done,” the Mayor said. “Who goes to Germany, for example, and talks about the whole Hitler period? You would go straight to jail.”
Could Concert Organizers Have Done Something To Prevent This?
BBC News states that the "See You Again" hitmaker has offended a lot of Colombian people, because of what he did. The Mayor even blamed that organizers of the concert for not stopping Khalifa from doing such gesture. "It shows that this guy has never had to suffer from the violence inflicted by these drug traffickers," Gutierrez says.
Some Twitter users even said that the rapper might have thought he was visiting the recently canonized Colombian missionary, Mother Laura. The Colombians expressed their anger on Twitter, saying what he did was unbelievable.
As of now, Wiz Khalifa has not commented to the anger expressed by the people from Colombia. Pablo Escobar's story has been reenacted in the TV show, "Narcos."
