Created by Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackey, "Humans" first premiered on UK's Channel 4 in 2015. AMC then followed up soon and broadcasted it in the US.
According to Deadline, both networks ordered eight episodes for "Humans" Season 3. It will return next year. The cast and crew will begin filming in the fall TV season.
“‘Humans' provides a thrilling look at the evolution of technology and its effect on society," AMC's Jonathan Stillerman said. "We are pleased to continue our collaboration with Channel 4 and Kudos and look forward to season three."

Following the cliffhanger ending of season 2, the renewal of "Humans" did not come as a surprise. Both critics and audience lauded the plot and cast. Aside from this, it broke several TV records.
"Humans" Season 2 alone was indeed a rating powerhouse. Channel 4 considered it as the highest rating drama since 2013. In the UK, it got an average of 3.4 million viewers for its premiere episode.
"Humans" joins AMC's jam-packed lineup on TV which includes "The Walking Dead." It garnered at least 2.0 million views in the 25-54 age group.

Vincent and Brackley also expressed their excitement for the third installment of "Humans." They will join the cast and crew who will all return next year.
"Humans" Season 3 marked another milestone. According to Cinema Blend, it will have a higher number of episodes from its original. The two creators took some inspirations from the award-winning series "Real Humans" from Sweden.
For the last two seasons, "Humans" focused on the arrival of synths. They are human-like A.I. robots, who are now living alongside humans in the real world. The show stars Gemma Chan, Emily Berrington, and Colin Morgan.
"Humans" Season 3 will return in 2018. The second season finale aired last Mar. 20, 2017.
