Co-creator Dan Goor relayed his thoughts if the series got canceled for the fifth season. He jokingly said that TV fans will stage a riot against the network honchos if this ever happened. According to him, he and the entire crew will also feel upset over this.

The topic came up after FOX did not reveal the future for some of its shows in the comedy lineup. Similar to "New Girl," they are yet to renew the show for the next season.

Avid viewers knew the style of the show for having cliffhanger endings. Goor felt hopeful that they will renew the series. “If you’re asking if we wrote a potential series finale, we did not,” Goor told TV Line. “We do not want this to be the series finale.”
