'The Mist' Spoilers, Trailer, Plot, Release Date And More Updates On Stephen King TV Series [VIDEO]
"The Mist" is an upcoming supernatural horror TV series that focuses on Stephen King's famed novella of the same name. Read on for more details.
Spike's upcoming TV show came after a decade, since director Frank Darabont worked on the 2007 movie. The said film included Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden, Laurie Holden, and Andre Braugher in its cast.
Creator Christian Torpe attended the winter previews for the network's Television Critics' Association event last Jan. He considered his version as a "weird cousin" to the book and film. Torpe praised the flick for having a surprising plot twist at the end, which has been approved by King himself.
"Let's call it a reimagination," Torpe said via TV Guide. "It's like a weird, twisted cousin to the original source material. Fans of the movie and of the book and of Mr. King's work will certainly see elements from it."
Torpe said they made some changes in order to showcase the story in a serialized form. However, he confessed that they will remain faithful to the original version.
"The Mist" Plot
According to Entertainment Weekly, "The Mist" will feature various characters, as they struggle to survive after a strange phenomenon appeared in their area. It will also follow the members of a close-knit family who have been involved in a life-changing incident. It is not an easy feat for them as they will also go against other residents in the small-town community.
Former wild child and now a sex-ed instructor, Eve (Alyssa Sutherland) will have a hard time with her life, as her past continues to haunt her. She lives with Mr. goody-two-shoes Kevin (Morgan Spector), as her policeman husband and their rebellious daughter, Alex (Gus Birney).
The Copeland family will not be in the same place as the strange smoke looms over the town. As per the trailer, Kevin might be near their station while Eve and Alex are stuck inside the mall. Will they reunite again?
"The Mist" Season 1 Cast Updates
"The Mist" will feature the appearance of "American Horror Story" actress, Frances Conroy. She will take on the role as Nathalie, one of the family neighbors. Her character is a religion-crazed lady who also has a weird relationship with her son, Sheriff Connor (Darren Pettie) and high school star, Jay (Luke Cosgrove).
Other cast members are Isiah Whitlock Jr., Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Danica Curcic, and Okezie Morro. According to Torpe, replacing the grocery store as the only focus in the plot has opened more possibilities for the series. It will heavily affect how the characters adapt from their life-or-death situation.
“We establish different little pressure cookers under the influence of whoever the leader would be in those locations. Each of them come up with different theories or beliefs about what’s going on. Eventually, the story lines will dovetail and turn into conflicts.”
"The Mist" Season 1 will premiere on June 22, 2017, on Spike. Stay tuned for more updates.
