The first pictures from "Outlander" Season 3 are out, which show Sam Heughan's Jamie Fraser and Caitriona Balfe's Claire separated from one another. These new photos were reported clicked when the team was filming in Scotland last year.

"Outlander" Season 3 First Pictures Out

Viewers get a clear idea that Sam Heughan's Jamie and Caitriona Balfe's Claire will be separated from the recently released pictures from "Outlander" Season 3. Of course, Frank will have a meaty role as well in the upcoming season.

Incidentally, these pictures also feature Tobias Menzies as Frank Randall. These fresh images seem to have been taken when the shooting took place in Scotland a year ago.

The popular sci-fi drama on Starz will have 13 episodes in total in for season 3, TVLine reported. The coming Sunday (Apr. 16) will be a happy day for the show's fans, as the first trailer for the new season will premiere then just before "The White Princess" makes its debut.

The released photos gave the first glimpses of what awaits viewers when the new episodes are aired. "Outlander" Season 3 is expected to start with the difficulties faced by Claire as she returns to 1948, traveling through the stones.

After she reappears, her married life with Frank is expected to deteriorate, as she is expecting Jamie's child. On the other hand, Jamie will try to cope up with his life in the 18th century after Claire's departure and the shattering Battle of Culloden.

Season 3 will start in completely two different centuries. While Claire returned to her husband, Jamie had to fight in the Battle of Culloden.

From the looks of it, traveling through time definitely suits Claire, as she looks as lovely as ever - despite her Gray hair, Entertainment Weekly wrote. She looks as if age has not touched her at all.

In other news, those who are closely following the series must be aware that the team shifted to Cape Town, South Africa earlier this year to shoot for crucial scenes. The upcoming season will also feature a sea voyage by the lead pair in the second half of the series when Claire and Jamie will sail across the Caribbean,
