'Stranger Things' Star Shannon Purser Comes Out Bisexual; Queerbaiting Meaning Revealed [VIDEO]

The 19-year-old actress shared her experience in revealing her sexuality to her loved ones.This is Shannon Purser's latest statement since releasing some tweets about anxiety for those who have the same struggles.

Shannon Purser On Bisexuality

Purser confessed that this is a big change in her life. However, Purser pointed out that she is still new in understanding everything.

“I don’t normally do this, but I figure now is as good a time as any to get personal,” Purser said as reported by USA Today. “It’s something I am still processing and trying to understand and I don’t like talking about it too much.”

Shannon Purser currently plays the role of Ethel Muggs in "Riverdale" for The CW. Her statement came out after Purser experienced some drawbacks from her online exchange with Dylan Sprouse about the "angry Beronica stans."

What Is Queerbaiting?

Netizens then pointed out the alleged "queerbaiting" present in the show. They spoke on the sexual tension between Veronica and Betty in one of the episodes, but as of now, there was no development shown about it.

Queerbaiting is the term people use to point out a current problem in the creative media such as TV shows and movies. According to Bustle, it is about a tactic where the media take advantage of getting higher ratings by "baiting" the queer community.

Shannon Purser then shared a lengthy post since her conversation with the fan took place. She added that the term is still new for her after she recently came out to her friends and families. The actress then apologized to those who felt offended by her previous status but it was intended for the haters.
