Katy Perry Draws Flak From Fans On Social Media; Find Out Why [VIDEO]
Katy Perry once again courted controversy, when she posted a photo of the Hindu goddess, Kali with the caption: "current mood". Her post has drawn over 17,000 reactions from followers.
What Was Perry's Post About?
The post on Katy Perry's Instagram sparked criticism from several fans from India, calling the post insensitive and should be respectful of other religions. The latest controversy adds to the disappointment of fans in India, who took the news of the divorce of Katy Perry and Russell Brand very hard. They were married in lavish Hindu rites in 2010 but went separate ways in 2012, New York Daily News reported.
The picture on her Instagram account showed Kali, the goddess of destruction, with that accompanying caption meant for some followers that Perry was using the goddess as a supposedly funny meme and disregarded the value of the image in other religions. Other fans though came to her defense and said that some were just overly sensitive and it was a non-issue. Some Indian fans even said that they did not feel offended at all, The Sun reported.
The Singer's New Look
Also in a series of photos in Instagram Katy Perry, also showed off her new look. She was sporting a spiky blonde look in her Apr. 20 post to celebrate National Look Alike Day. She first showed her platinum blonde cropped pixie cut on Apr. 11 with the caption, "fifth element flow".
She originally had a longer blonde look in her cover spread with Vogue magazine but that look was overshadowed by her supposed diss of rival, Taylor Swift. Swift was the on the cover of Vogue in May last year and sported the platinum-blonde look with a red theme.
Katy Perry is this year's May cover girl, with the same color-theme and hair color. Some industry insiders are pointing to this as a subtle swipe at Swift's silence during last year's election campaign, while Perry campaigned for Hillary Clinton.
