The Campbell Soup Company is expected to make sales of up to $1.8 billion this quarter. But a recall on one of their food products, because of labeling issues might be a reason for a decline in profit.

Which Product Was It?

The US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) broke the news on the Campbell Soup Company pullout of a canned chicken product because of mislabeling issues. The products in question are the 18.6 ounce cans of "Campbell's Homestyle Healthy Request Chicken with Whole Grain Pasta" that were shipped to Florida.

The reason for the recall was discovered when consumer complaints were called into the Campbell Soup Company corporate office regarding the product. The company said that the consumers reported that the contents of the cans actually contained "Campbell's Homestyle Healthy Request Italian-Style Wedding Spinach and Meatballs in Chicken Broth." This was ruled as a Class I recall because the mislabeled products contained milk and undeclared allergens, the FSIS said in a news release.

A Class I recall means that it is a health hazard situation, where the product can cause serious health issues or even death. So far, there have been no reports of any bad reactions to the product. The FSIS believes that the consumers should immediately thrown away or returned to the place they purchased it from and call a healthcare provider if any illness or injury arises from consumption of the product.

Another Hit For The Company

The Campbell Soup Company took another hit, as the heiress of the company fortunes, Dorrance Hamilton died last Apr. 18 in Boca Grande, Florida. The cause of death was not revealed by the family. She was 88 years old, Philadelphia Magazine reported.

She was the granddaughter of the creator of the canned soup, John T. Dorrance, who was also the first president of the Campbell Soup Company. Her net worth was pegged at $1.26 billion by Forbes but she was the ever consummate philanthropist who donated millions of her fortune to hospitals, museums and schools.
