"Locke & Key" will have another chance at becoming a TV show after the streaming service greenlit the project. Read on for more details.

According to Deadline, Hulu will continue with a one-hour episode, with the help of the original creative duo. Hill and Rodriguez will work alongside Carlton Cuse and Scott Derrickson.

Cuse developed the series with Hill, who worked on the script. Derrickson will direct multiple episodes including the pilot.

Get To Know The Show's Plot

The pilot episode of the supernatural fantasy series got its inspiration from the comic books of the same name. Joe Hill developed the story with artist, Gabriel Rodriguez. IDW Publishing published six installments from 2008 until 2013.

"Locke & Key" follows Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode, the orphan children of Rendell Locke. After he got murdered, they went and lived at their ancestral home. However, they did not know about the mysterious connection between their family and another magical world.

The Keys, which were forged by their ancestors, reportedly grant the user with various magical powers. These instruments also open an array of unknown dimensions. Because of this, supernatural creatures are also looking for a chance to use the keys for their own selfish motives.

Fantasy Show Heads To Hulu

This is not the first time that "Locke & Key" has caught the attention of the entertainment industry. Dreamworks planned on a movie trilogy in mind with Stephen King, Alex Kurtzman, and Robert Orci. They changed it to a TV series but both projects did not happen.

A "Locke & Key" TV series almost came to fruition in 2011,,when FOX made a pilot order. It included a star-studded cast such as Jesse McCartney, Miranda Otto, and Ksenia Solo. It got a lot of positive reviews at the San Diego comic-con that same year but the network did not continue with it.

If Hulu's "Locke & Key" pilot does happen, the show might also help the network gain a huge following among fans and viewers. The Hollywood Reporter pointed out that the previous attempts hint on the challenges, which Hulu might face in the future.

The outlet pointed out the comic book's well-written universe about the magical world behind the Locke keys is indeed a hindrance. However, in Hulu's case, the success rate is indeed high because of the creative dream team.

Hill and Rodriguez have worked on successful projects outside "Locke & Key." Hill, who is the son of renowned authors Stephen and Tabitha King, published four books and a collection of short horror stories. Meanwhile, Rodriguez won several awards for "Little Nemo: Return to Slumberland."

Cuse became a TV veteran for his work on "Lost." Some of his recent TV credits include "Bates Motel," "The Strain," "The Colony," and the upcoming "Jack Ryan." Meanwhile, Derrickson worked as the director of the latest Marvel hit, "Doctor Strange."
