‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ And ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Release Dates; Rian Johnson Praised For Episode VIII

A couple of weeks ago, fans got to see the new trailer for “Star Wars: Episode VIII” (also known as “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” While many were quite overjoyed with the announcement of “The Last Jedi,” the release date of “Star Wars: Episode IX” has now been announced.

The Walt Disney Company and LucasFilm declared that the latest from the “Star Wars” saga will hit US big screens in May 2019. After a few days of its release, it will be launched in the United Kingdom and other international continents.

Disney Sets Final Release Dates For “Star Wars: Episode IX” And “Indiana Jones”

While Disney is all set to release “Star Wars: Episode IX” on May 24, 2019, the fifth installment of the “Indiana Jones” franchise is finally pushed back from 2019 to 2020. The latest release date for “Indiana Jones 5” set by Disney is July 10, 2020, as reported by The Independent.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was released in Dec. 2015 and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” came just after a year in Dec. 2016. The 2015 movie did beautifully in the box office, followed by the 2016 movie. When they moved Episode VIII to release in Dec. 2017, it looks like LucasFilm got an idea for Episode IX to make it an affair of summer.

“Star Wars: Episode IX” Not Being Written By “The Last Jedi" Director Rian Johnson

Now, the writing process of “Star Wars: Episode IX” reportedly does not involve Rian Johnson. The 43-year old movie maker, Johnson is popularly known for his 2008’s super hit movie “The Brothers Bloom” and 1996’s remarkable short film, “Evil Demon Golfball from Hell!!!”

According to Screenrant, the director of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is actively involved with “Star Wars” fans via several mediums - mainly social networking sites, since his surprising visit to his 2017’s “Star Wars” Celebration. While his directed movie, “The Last Jedi” is yet not released, he has received significant praise from LucasFilm veteran, Mark Hamill. He said that with the making of “Star Wars: Episode VIII,” Johnson has become one of this favorite directors.
