Breast Cancer Risk Escalates With Daily Wine Consumption, Here's Why
Every woman reportedly raises the risk of getting breast cancer if she drinks even just half a glass of wine a day. Get to know more details about this new study that explores this concern.
A study conducted by the World Cancer Research Fund, in association with the American Institute for Cancer Research unearthed interesting proof that physical exercise, limited drinking of alcohol, and a healthy diet can reduce the risk of breast cancer. On the other hand, 12 million women worldwide were studied by the researchers and they finally blamed consumption of alcohol for 12,000 of the 55,000 annual cases of cancer patients in the United Kingdom, as reported by The Sun.
How To Reduce Risk Of Getting This Type Of Cancer?
Women should stop drinking alcohol or at least reduce their intake, as much as they can to prevent the breast cancer, as suggested by Dr. Rachel Thompson of the World Cancer Research Fund. However, researchers have also pointed out that regular exercise like running and cycling also reduce the chance by 17 percent, while even gardening lessen it by 13 percent.
On the other hand, they also found out that dairy food products and a diet filled with carotenoids (that can be received from tomatoes, carrots, and sweet potatoes) also highly reduce the risk. Eating more leafy vegetables like spinach, cabbage, and kale tend to decrease the risk of the disease. Although they have overstated the dangers of this disease from drinking alcohol.
What Are The Other Risk Factors?
Apart from drinking alcohol, there are other few factors that one cannot control like age, gender, height, genes, and mainly when their menstruation started. Being tall and starting menstruation before 12 are commonly considered to increase the risk of breast cancer, BBC suggested.
