Almost everyone is now about positivity, but unfortunately, bullying is still here, and it happens both online and in person. Most of the time, online or cyberbullying makes confrontation more difficult because of anonymity.

Nevertheless, it affects the victim in the same way. So, how do you deal with your child's bully, whether in person or online? Here are a few ways.

What to Tell Your Child

First, make sure your child knows it is not their fault. While they cannot control what their bully says or does, they can work on ways to address them. Practicing scenarios and teaching them how to respond without aggression is one way. Another is to promote positive body language.

Parenting book author Michele Borba, EdD, said to put on a brave face and that "how you look is more important than what you say" when confronting a bully. Building your child's confidence is an important part of this and every stage in their life.

You can do this by telling them you are proud of them when they tell stories about how they confronted a bully. You can also help them understand the situation by telling stories from your own experience.

When to Intervene

Although you can teach your child what to do when facing this kind of situation, they can only do so much. At the end of the day, bullies make their own decisions, and even though your child does their best, there may still be chances that their bullies will come back to do the same thing.

At this point, you can intervene and talk to other people of authority, like the school and the bully's parents.
