Former Playboy model Holly Madison, 44, has candidly shared her autism diagnosis and shed light on her journey of self-discovery and understanding.

Madison, who gained fame through her time at the Playboy Mansion and later pursued a career as a bestselling author, podcast host, and true crime series producer, revealed the deep impact of her diagnosis on her life and relationships.

In an interview with People magazine, Madison expressed gratitude for the newfound clarity the diagnosis has brought, for it allowed her to comprehend her unique way of operating and relating to others.

"I'm so glad I got that diagnosis because I can recognize how I operate the way I do, why I operate the way I do, how I relate to people," she said, highlighting the positive impact of her diagnosis on her social skills.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a neurological and developmental condition, affects a person's ability to interact, communicate, learn and behave, as outlined by the National Institutes of Health.

Madison's diagnosis has provided valuable insight into her behavioral patterns and interpersonal challenges, explaining her past experiences.

Reflecting on her journey, Madison recognized the significance of her diagnosis in understanding how she would behave socially.

During an appearance on the "Talking to Death" podcast late last year, she revealed insights into her communication style, citing her tendency to be more reserved and introspective.

Despite occasional misunderstandings, Madison finds solace in being able to explain her social preferences to others.

"I think because I'm more quiet, I've only recently learned to make eye contact, I'm often in my own thoughts, things like that, so people take that as offensive. They're like, 'Damn, you're not super interested in me, f--- you,'" she explained, The International News reported.

"Like, I'm just not on the same social wavelength as other people but don't take it personally. So I like being able to explain that."

Madison is sharing her autism diagnosis story to raise awareness and foster understanding of autism spectrum disorder.

She said she hopes to empower others navigating similar experiences and encourage greater acceptance and inclusivity.

Amid the ordeal, Madison said she remains grateful for the unwavering support of her loved ones, including her boyfriend Zak Bagans.
