In a fast-paced world filled with various stressors, a simple yet often overlooked solution to finding happiness may lie in the act of staying hydrated, suggests a recent survey conducted by OnePoll and commissioned by True Lemon.

The survey, which polled 2,000 American adults, shed light on the profound impact of hydration on daily happiness levels.

Among the myriad of "little things" that bring joy, drinking enough water emerged as a significant contributor, with 36% of respondents acknowledging its mood-boosting effects.

The study revealed intriguing correlations between hydration levels and happiness, indicating that those who consumed 10 or more glasses of water daily were more likely to prioritize finding joy in small things compared to their less hydrated counterparts.

Moreover, individuals who maintained higher hydration levels reported greater overall happiness and a more optimistic outlook on life.

However, the survey also highlighted the challenges individuals face in maintaining proper hydration, with 43% of respondents citing plain water's perceived tastelessness as a barrier.

To combat this, many turned to additives such as drink mixes and powders, with 61% of the most hydrated group incorporating these into their hydration routine.

Heidi Carney, executive vice president of marketing at True Lemon, stressed the importance of finding strategies that work for individuals to ensure adequate hydration throughout the day.

"There are a variety of easy steps people can take to ensure they're staying hydrated throughout the day," Carney said, Study Finds reported.

"From carrying a water bottle with you on the go, to setting little reminders for yourself, there are different ways to get in the habit of drinking enough water. For those who don't like the taste of water, drink mixes can also be a great solution. It's all about finding what works best for you, to ensure you're getting the hydration you need."

While drinking water isn't the sole pathway to happiness, the survey reaffirmed its significant role in promoting overall well-being.

Alongside other mood-boosting activities like eating sufficiently and taking walks, staying hydrated emerged as a fundamental component of daily happiness and health.

With the growing awareness of the many benefits of proper hydration for both body and mind, experts said everyone should recognize the importance of prioritizing hydration as a key aspect of self-care.
