Long-distance love may have gotten a bit easier. Durex Australia is introducing a new technology called "Fundawear". Connecting two long-distance lovers with an app and vibrating underwear, the company heralds it as the "future of foreplay".

Durex announced its first venture into the realm of wearable technology yesterday, according to Beta Beat. It consists of lingerie that is outfitted with the technology that makes mobile phones vibrate. Made up of a bra and panties for women and boxer briefs for men, each cup of the bra holds five miniature actuators to replicate the sense of touch. The underwear contains six, the Guardian reports, and each of the actuators come with a corresponding button to touch on a person's smartphone.

Yesterday, the technology made its first appearance in the form of young couple Nick and Dani. In the video, he uses the phone and his Internet to grope his girlfriend's breast. She laughs and reacts, saying, "It feels like you're touching me."

The company describes it as a world first, but there are other technological items that aim to reduce the distance between those either in a long-distance relationship or simply unlucky in love. An app called Vibease accompanies a miniature vibrator with a text- and picture-messaging application.

For touches of the more innocent variety, students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology created a Like-a-Hug jacket, which inflates to replicate the feeling of a hug anytime a person likes something on their Facebook wall. HugShirt was developed in 2006 by London developers, which was connected to the Internet and could measure hug strength, warmth and heartbeat.

For the curious and unabashed, the Irish Independent reports that couples are still able to sign up to be part of the testing.
