Popcorn Eating Habits May Reveal Your Personality
How we eat popcorn may reveal our personality, according to new research.
A new study reveals that 48 percent of introverts prefer to pick one at a time, whereas extroverts prefer to grab handfuls, with 40 percent of people admitting to gobbling up kernels by the bunch.
However, perfectionists are a mix of pickers and grabbers, and they were more likely to be generous, with 98 percent of perfectionist reporting that they are willing to share their popcorn.
"There are well-recognized links between eating habits and personalities. In general, slower eaters tend to enjoy routines and can be stubborn; often putting them and their needs before other people," said Dr. Ben Sessa, a UK consultant psychiatrist, according to the Daily Mail.
"Those who eat their popcorn a kernel at a time would be likely to fit into this personality set. In contrast to this, fast eaters are generally less selfish and put others first. It is unsurprising that they would be extroverted due to the more social nature of their behavior," Sessa added.
The study involving 2,000 people also revealed obvious differences in the popcorn eating habits of men and women.
Researchers found that women are 5 percent more likely to pick their kernels, and each piece individually. However, men were 50 percent more likely to grab and eat their popcorn by the handful, according to the study commissioned by skinny topcorn.
However, the study found that men and women were equally generous, with 96 of both sexes reporting that they would be happy to share their popcorn.
