Garden Fresh Foods of Milwaukee, Wisc. is recalling 19,000 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken and ham  as it may be contaminated with Listeria.

Garden Fresh Foods has recalled numerous salads and dips which were distributed nationwide under several brand names.

The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service says the foods were distributed to retailers and food services nationwide. They include several kinds of chicken and ham salads sold under the brands: Spartan, Market Pantry, Archer Farms, D'Amico and Sons, Roundy's, Grandpa's, Maggie's, Finest Traditions , Garden Fresh, Weis, and Portillio's.

Market Pantry and Archer Farms are featured brands at Target. More than 70 different dips, pasta salads, potato salads, chicken salads and other products are named in the recall.

Luckily, there have been no reports of illnesses linked to these ready-to-eat foods. The company and the agency advised anyone concerned about an illness to contact a health care provider.

Listeria is a very serious disease for humans, the two main manifestations are meningitis and sepsis. It can also lead to miscarriages in women and is especially dangerous for people with weakened immune systems.

There have been no reports of illness because of the food, but Listeria can induce miscarriages and cause serious illnesses in people with weakened immune systems.
