For decades people have been trying to prove that Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch exists. This creature, who is supposed to have a mixture of ape and human features, is believed to live in the forests of the Pacific Northwest in North America. Since this creature has never been properly identified, many people are skeptical of its existence and believe that the concept of a Bigfoot is a hoax. However, real or unreal, a group of Sasquatch scientists just reported that they have DNA evidence that Bigfoot is alive.

"We want people to understand that this is a serious study," Dr. Melba Ketchum, the study's leader said to CBS DFW. Ketchum is a genetics scientist and has worked on this study for around five years.

The Sasquatch Genome Project has release a "never-before-seen footage" of what they believe is Bigfoot sleeping in Kentucky's forest. Along with this video clip, the researchers provided many blood and hair samples that have surprisingly never been seen before. According to the report, the researchers had sent the samples as blind samples to 11 laboratories and universities outside of their own research facilities. The team reported that the tests suggest that the creature is indeed Bigfoot.

"[Approximately] one hundred and thirteen separate samples of hair, blood, mucus, toenail, bark scrapings, saliva and skin with hair and subcutaneous tissue attached were submitted by dozens of individuals and groups from thirty-four separate hominin collection sites around North America," the researchers wrote according to NY Daily News.

The team was capable of sending out these samples to get tested after Bigfoot believer, Adrain Erickson donated $500,000 to the cause. The report stated that some of the labs that helped test the samples were the University of Texas Southwestern, the North Louisiana Crime Lab and New York University. NYU has spoken out and was skeptical of the report.

"They didn't know what they were testing," Ketchum said. "I have one email from a tester saying 'what have you done, discovered a new species?'"

According to the report, all of the samples turned out to be human. However, when the team looked at the samples that were broadened into genome sequences, the researchers found that some sections of the DNA were unique and could not be identified to any other species. The team believes Bigfoot could be a genetic hybrid.

As the report draws more criticism, the Sasquatch researchers are still standing tall. In their minds, Bigfoot lives.
