1 in 6 Women Don't Know Their Natural Hair Color
One in six women "don't know" their natural hair color because they've been dying it for so long, according to a new British survey.
The new poll also found that 17 percent of women are unable to recall how their hair looks naturally.
The women were asked: "How often do you visit the hairdressers to have your hair done?" The average answer was found to be every "8.2 weeks".
When the women were asked about the average cost per visit, the average price came out to be £42.32 ($68.48).
The survey revealed that 39 percent of women say they normally go to the hairdresser to cut their hair, 28 percent said they had it "colored more often than cut" and 33 percent said they usually had it "cut and colored at the same time".
The study revealed that only 12 percent of women in the survey claimed they never had their hair colored.
The survey, which involved 1,342 women from around the UK as part of research into the impact of beauty treatments on personal finances, revealed that only 62 percent of women said 'yes' when they were asked if they knew what their natural hair color is. Around 21 percent of women said they were "unsure" and 17 percent said they genuinely "didn't know" as they had been dying their hair for too long.
The poll also found the most common hair coloring choices involved changing from brown to blonde with 33 percent of those surveyed saying that this was what they preferred. Around 27 percent of survey respondents had wanted to go from blonde to dark and 11 percent wanted to go from black to blonde.
"To think that a sixth of women don't know what their natural hair color is quite an eye opener, but I suppose if you've been coloring your hair for years on end, it probably does fade from memory," said spokesman for vouchercloud.com, who sponsored the survey, according to the Daily Mail.
"Hair color can change with the vagaries of age, so if you've been dying your hair from an early age then it stands to reason that 30 years later you might be unsure as to how it looks without it," he added.
