Setting up dates on Monday may be why you're still single, a new study suggests.

Researchers found that dates on Monday are most likely to be cancelled at the last minute, according to the Daily Mail. The survey revealed that the most common reasons for standing someone up include illness, exhaustion, work commitments, gym visits and getting a better offer.

The survey revealed that dates set up for the weekend are most likely to solidify, with Saturday voted the most popular date night. In fact, the survey conducted by dating website match.com revealed that weekend dates are four times more popular than weekdays, with 81 percent of people saying that they are more likely to cancel a date on a week night.

"Saturday nights have an in-built feeling of fun which adds excitement to any date, and they come with the added bonus of extra hours of preparation time," said Kate Taylor, resident relationship expert at match.com, according to the Daily Mail.

"It comes as no surprise that Mondays are the least popular, as people often tend to be either overwhelmed by their weekday workload or still tired out from their weekend activities," Taylor added.
