Travel Boosts Brain and Body Health
Traveling can help keep your heart and brain healthy, a new study suggests.
Researchers found that going on vacations can help decrease the risk of heart attacks, depression and brain diseases.
Researchers found that travelling offers the same physical and cognitive benefits as crossword puzzles and museum visits, according to Los Angeles Times.
The findings revealed that women who travelled every six years or less were significantly more likely to develop heart attack or coronary death compared to those who travelled at least twice a year.
The study also revealed that men who did not take vacation every year were 20 percent more die an early death, and about 30 percent more likely to die of heart disease.
Furthermore, 89 percent of participants experienced significant drops in stress.
These findings held true even after accounting for socioeconomic status and pre-existing health conditions.
The study was conducted by the Global Commission on Aging, Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies and the U.S. Travel Association.
