Jelly Belly, the Fairfield, candy company based in California known for Buttered Popcorn and Cream Soda jelly beans has announced its newest flavor of jelly beans: Draft Beer.

The company said beer jelly beans were "inspired by a Hefeweizen ale with a clean, crisp and wheaty taste."

"This took about three years to perfect," said Ambrose Lee, research and development manager for Jelly Belly Candy Company in the press release. "The recipe includes top secret ingredients, but I can tell you it contains no alcohol."

The flavor will make its debut at Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco and ISM in Cologne, Germany.

Other beer lovers and curious customers can find the beans in the stores starting spring. The product can also be ordered online in bulk from Jelly Belly's website.

"Usually the factory has a sweet and fruity aroma, but when we're making this flavor it's just like being in an ale house," said Jeff Brown, vice president in charge of manufacturing for Jelly Belly Candy Company in the press release.

"Anyone who enjoys a good, cold beer will enjoy Draft Beer Jelly Belly beans for the simple fact that it tastes just as you'd imagine," added Rob Swaigen, vice president of marketing for Jelly Belly Candy Company.
