Emoji The Movie Is Coming! Watch How Emoticons Come to Life
Emojis started as emoticons used on smartphones, electronic messaging and even on social media sites. Users usually use these in expressing their feelings and showing faces in a cute and funny way. As it becomes a trend, different merchandise was also released like t-shirts, mugs, tumblers, pillows and a whole lot more.
After years of writing, creative minds of Eric Siegel, Tony Leondis, and Mike White has come up with a story starring the emojis. Siegel is a producer and actor known for his previous projects, Amateur Night and Traffic light. Mike White is also a producer and writer best known for School Rock and Nacho Libre while his good friend Leondis is a film director, writer and voice actor of animation. Leondis is also the director of the upcoming animated comedy adventure film "The Emoji Movie".
The movie is produced by Sony Pictures Animation and distributed by Columbia Picture after winning the bid with Warner Brothers and Paramount Pictures. In 2015, Sony originally set the date on August 11, 2017, for the Emoji Movie's release but later on was replaced with Baby Driver and moved "The Emoji Movie" to August 04, 2017 to be out in cinemas nationwide.
The film will show the secret world in people's smartphones behind the apps that are usually used. In their world, everyone seems to have one expression except for Gene played by T.J Miller. The story will evolve on Gene who was born with numerous of facial expressions that made him different from other emojis. Though it was hard for him, he tried to live normally but is still determine to look for a way to become normal with the help of his friends Hi-5 and Jailbreak. Together they discover different worlds of different apps in search of the code that will turn Gene to normal. As they continue their journey, they were threatened with a great danger that would delete them all if they fail to save their world.
