We've all heard of the three-date rule, or the "The Sex Date", which states that is it socially acceptable to sleep with someone on the third date. But what about kissing? How many dates should you go on before it's okay to lean in for a kiss?

Well, a new survey reveals that the majority of people believe that it's fine to make out on the first date.

According to the Daily Mail, the survey revealed that 88 percent of people say it fine to kiss on the first date.

And while only 5 percent of male respondents say kissing on the first encounter is out of the question, 13 percent of female respondents say they would never kiss on the first date.

The survey also revealed that twice as many men (11 percent) as women (6 percent) say they would regularly kiss on the first date. 

While more men admit to being open to kissing and puckering up on the first date, the survey also found that women are no longer waiting for men to make all the moves.  The poll revealed that 79 percent of women admit they wouldn't have a problem with being to one who made the first move.

The survey, which was conducted by dating website mysinglefriend.com, was commissioned to celebrate UK's National Kissing day on June 20.

"Attitudes to dating and first date kisses have changed in recent years," said website founder Sarah Beeny, according to the Daily Mail. "We are starting to shake off that stigma that can sometimes be attached to 'making the first move'."

"It's great to see that both men and women are growing alike in confidence, and becoming more open about the dating scene. We are slowly shaking off that cringe factor," she added.
