Samsung Galaxy Note 6 US Release Date, Specs And Rumors

By Sara Gale | Update Date: May 17, 2016 06:00 AM EDT

Samsung Galaxy Note 6 would reportedly be released in the US in mid-August. The release date comes from the renowned leakster Evan Blass and is considered reliable like ever before.

"Samsung Galaxy Note 6 US release scheduled for the week of August 15,"Blass posted to Twitter on Thursday, May 12, 2016. Though it was rumored earlier that Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will be out in July, the August release date appears to make more sense since Note 5, the device's predecessor was released on August 21, 2015.

There is no official confirmation on the date of release from Samsung just yet; however, August launch will ensure that the phone is available on the market a month prior to iPhone. While Blass has noted that the phone will be out in the US in mid-August, there is a point in assuming that it would be made available worldwide on the same day just like Note 5.

"Galaxy Note 6 will be featuring an upgrade to the fingerprint scanner technology that has been featured in the latest wave of flagship smartphones. The device is said to be packing a retina scanner, which is a camera that will scan the eyes of the person holding the Galaxy Note 6 and unlock it if the person is the owner," noted Tech Times.

The phone is rumored to be featuring 5.8-inch QHD display with 2,560 x 1,440-pixel resolution and Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor. The phone is also said to come with 6GB RAM and Adreno 530 GPU. Since Snapdragon 823 is the updated version of Snapdragon 820 found in Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, Note 6 is expected to exhibit better processing power.

Rumors also have it that the device will feature a huge 4,000 Ah battery and IP68 water resistance. The phone will also feature a slot-in-stylus, which is aimed to be helpful in navigation, according to Independent.

"The timing of the Galaxy Note 6's release will coincide with Google's planned release of the next version of its mobile operating system. Known for now simply as Android N, the upcoming OS is said to come pre-installed in the Galaxy Note 6. Samsung has not confirmed any of the information that has been released about the Galaxy Note 6, but if all these are true, the smartphone will be a tough one to beat in the highly competitive smartphone industry," reported Tech Times.
