iPhone 8 Latest News & Update: Apple May Eventually Replace Touch ID With Facial Recognition Security
Big expectations await the iPhone 8 as the big refresh from Apple continues. Pegged to carry the Cupertino company to an entirely new niche, the next flagship is believed to be coming with major changes, led no less by the much-speculated OLED screen that veers away from the TFT-LCD age.
That said, the shift to OLED bring up a lot of things for the iPhone 8. Most have tied it up with aesthetics, including a reported bezel-free form factor-design. But there seems to be more of what the screen has to offer based on the latest insights of reliable tipster and KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He believes that a new biometric identification technology will come alongside the new iPhone 8 design.
Kuo believes that Apple will be switching to a film sensor technology from the present FPCB sensor, something that is expected to bring the security features of the iPhone 8 to the next level. This would include a flexible OLED panel which would need a metal structure to render needed support to avoid deformation, Apple Insider reported. These changes are just some of the big things the Cupertino company is expected to unveil the iPhone 8 this 2017.
With most of this tied up to Touch ID and fingerprint security, Kuo believes that Apple may eventually adopt facial recognition for enhanced security measures. If not the sole feature, facial recognition may eventually co-exist with the current fingerprint scanning measures at least until Apple developers are able to perfect the shift to the new technology, Mac Rumors reported.
The ramp on security features for the iPhone 8 and other devices moving forward should be interesting, something Kuo believes will usher in a paradigm shift. It remains to be seen if the new technology will be included with the next iPhone installment with Apple trying to cover all bases in fending off unwanted breaches for the protection of their loyalists.
